Biographie : Hubert Bonin

Hubert Bonin est professeur émérite en histoire économique à Sciences Po Bordeaux; il est aujourd'hui, à 66 ans et demi, chercheur en histoire économique à Sciences Po Bordeaux à l’UMR CNRS 5113 GRETHA-Université de Bordeaux - mais avec en sus un enregistrement en sciences économiques par ce laboratoire, d'où un rang de 132e dans le classement des économistes français publiants. Il est spécialiste d’histoire bancaire et financière, mais aussi de l’histoire des entreprises et des organisations tertiaires, de l’esprit d’entreprise et du négoce et de la banque ultramarines. Il étudie également le déploiement des banques françaises dans les anciennes concessions chinoises. Son champ d’étude couvre enfin l’histoire des flux logistiques intercontinentaux, l'histoire maritime et celle du canal de Suez. Depuis 2014, il conduit un programme de reconstitution des divers aspects de la guerre économique (industrielle, bancaire, logistique, tertiaire) en 1914-1919, dans le cadre d'un programme labellisé par le Comité du centenaire de la Première Guerre mondiale. Enfin, il co-organise des manifestations d’histoire appliquée avec des responsables de communication d’entreprise ou participe à des projets éditoriaux montés par ceux-ci [www.hubertbonin.com]. • Hubert Bonin is a researcher in modern economic history at Sciences Po Bordeaux and at the GRETHA research centre at Bordeaux University. He is a specialist of the history of services companies (Suez canal company, colonial and overseas trading houses and their maritime affiliates), and moreover of French banking history (regional banks. Paris deposit, corporate and investment banks, with several monography books and a few handbooks). He is preparing a large history of French Société générale (from 1864 to the 1940s) in a few volumes (the first published in 2006), and developing histories of the French global economy of investment banks and of the action of French banks in Eastern Asia and in Greece. As a specialist in business history, he has co-guided the research programs Ford in Europe (1903-2003) (published in 2003), American Firms in Europe (published in 2008), Old Paternalism, New Paternalism, Post-Paternalism (published in 2013), Investment Banking History and Imperial Banking History (2014) and he is taking part to several programs in banking and business history along French, European, or Asian perspectives, especially about investment banking, merchant and trade banking, economic patriotism, entrepreneurship and European business. He also launched a middle-term programme about the economic history of World War I. • He has been a member of the board and the treasurer of the Association française des historiens économistes for a decade; a member of the Council of the European Business History Association (2000-2007; 2010-2013), of the Committee for the History of Banque de France central bank (till 2013), of of the academic advisory council of the European Association for Banking & Finance history, of the International Corporate Culture Association.
